Jesus Christ Pose
These days
it seems like everyone is
a survivor of some kind of
disease or awful trauma
We are a culture of wounded
brandishing our scars
jockeying for position
with the other cripples
The horror stories predominating
to pluck at the heartstrings
a martyr’s complex going
back to Golgotha
